How is age calculated exactly?

Age is calculated by comparing your birth date to today, accounting for variable month lengths and leap years. The result shows complete elapsed years, remaining full months, and remaining days. The total days lived is the precise day count between the two dates, making it accurate for any birth year including leap years.

Why is the total days count different from years times 365?

Because calendar years vary in length. Leap years have 366 days, and months range from 28 to 31 days. The total days count is derived from the exact millisecond difference between your birth date and today — accurate regardless of how many leap years fall within your lifetime.

How is the birthday countdown calculated?

The countdown shows days from today until your next birthday. If your birthday has already passed this calendar year, it counts to next year's date. If today is your birthday, a special message is shown. The calculation uses local date arithmetic, so time zone differences do not affect the result.

Can I calculate the age of someone else?

Yes — just enter any date of birth. The calculator handles dates going back centuries, though the Gregorian calendar was only adopted in October 1582. For dates before that, the calculation uses a proleptic Gregorian calendar.
